Here's who we are

Lines of Sight team is a team of two, with a capacity to draw on other talented colleagues when the need arises.

Alex Sutherland

Alex's ability as a facilitator and mentor / coach reflect diverse experiences with a diverse range of public sector and private organisations. He continually draws on his experiences as a teacher and trainer, Human resources manager, minister, project manager and board member; not forgetting stints as a menswear sales assistant and a mattress maker.

As a facilitator, Alex has extensive experience in areas as diverse as strategic planning, goal setting, values clarification, team building and conflict resolution. While skilled at designing ‘content', his starting point is responsiveness to client need. He works with their agenda, not his own. His approach is one of flexibility, adapting his style to the needs of the moment.

When it comes to mentoring and coaching, Alex's starting point is a conviction is that increasing awareness of who you are is the key to unlocking leadership effectiveness, engagement with others and business focus.

Melissa Thorn

When people ask Melissa what she does for Lines of Sight her favourite response is I help people do the stuff that’s been sitting in their ‘too hard’ basket.

Melissa’s real strength is her versatility. She has experience in the public sector, the small business/retail sector and in not-for-profit organisations. From strategic planning and project management, through audit and quality assurance to change management and operations management she has carried out wide and varied roles. She loves helping teams review their effectiveness in terms of roles and responsibilities. She focuses on end results for her clients.

Melissa has a reputation for having outstanding interpersonal skills. She has great critical thinking skills combined with well developed intuition when it comes to dealing with people. She has a sense of humour. She is calm in a crisis.
