Toolbox - Self-understanding
More about three of the Lines of Sight tools
The
Obstacles/Opportunities Quotient (QO2™)
Determines the 'balance'
of effort people put into seeing the opportunities and obstacles
at work, the degree of balance within individuals, teams and
organisations influencing issues such as conflict resolution,
resource access, work allocation, team performance and organisational
vision.
How it works:
- 50 questions
- 15 – 20 minutes to complete on-line
- Profile plus Development Guide
- Useful instrument for individuals and teams contemplating
change.

What's
my Learning Style?
A ‘tool’ to assist
individuals maximise development opportunities by building
on preferred styles of learning. Using as a starting point
an acknowledgement that personal style is largely determined
by how assertive and expressive someone is. Two more dimensions
are added:
- Action Orientation versus Thinking Orientation
- Independent Learning versus Group Learning.
How it works:
- 20 questions
- 8 – 10 minutes to complete (paper-based)
- Useful ‘tool’ for an individual wanting to prepare a development
plan that maximises their preferred style
- Best for individuals and can be used by a team committed
to creating a learning environment.
Lifestyle
Review
A process that uses
story telling as a source of learning and development. Key
life events are identified, documented and discussed; the
stories providing insight and inspiration for the future.
A useful ‘tool’ for someone considering a change in direction.
How it works:
- 30 – 45 minutes personal reflection, followed by
- 2 hours of guided discussion, and
- the preparation of a report by the mentor.
